Literacy
A free basic education to poor little kids ages 3 to 10 years old, offering basic lessons in Math, English and Basic Arabic Language. To fully equip our young students in their learning, we also give them free notebooks, pencils, papers, and ball-pens, and we are also giving them free snacks for their recess.
"Lihal" is a Tausug word which literally means a Qur'an folding stand. The program aims to revive the fading cultural tradition of teaching the children on how to read the Quran at home. The Murid (pupils) of this literacy activity is of ages around 7 to 13 years old, they would be taught by their Guru (teacher, mostly their parents and grandparents) on how to read the Qur'an every morning, before breakfast, and also in the afternoon. The effect of reading the Holy words, enlightens the heart of the children which contributes a lot to the sustainable peace in the community.
At this point the MYMPD is reviving this healthy tradition by institutionalizing the "Lihal" activity in the selected communities. The group is soliciting Qur'an from inside and outside the country for the murid and providing honorarium for the guru.
Community services
While bomb threats are scattering everywhere in Mindanao the MYMPD realized to campaign for peace through food giving, it is for the unfortunate children and also sharing it to the poor Muslims, Christians, and Lumads in the communities.
This program aims to cloth those less fortunate ones (street children, Badjaos and families who lived by the sidewalks) who cannot receive help or reached by the private/government charitable institutions.
SHURA: Youth Consultative Assembly
Youth are not properly consulted, their voices are always disregarded. The MYMPD, a movement devoted to the strength and power of the youth cannot just set aside this problem. We believe that the practice of consultation would set the bridge of peace effectively.
This consultation also involves non-Muslim sectors for better understanding of different cultures and beliefs.
This is the core program of the MYMPD. The ILA trainings are designed to open the minds of the members and participants, transforming them from a normal individual to a dynamic and productive part of the community. The academy also aims of molding young minds into potential future leaders which will practice the Islamic way of governance. This program is a tool for peace building and a backbone of peace advocacy.
