Few Food for Peace

The Muslim Youth Movement (MYM) organizing Food for Peace activity. MYM is a group of students and youth organizations based in Western Mindanao State University. The movement aim to introduce changes among young tri-people in the region particularly in Zamboanga City through sustainable peace and development.

Their motion dubbed as “Food for Peace”. This is to be launched in August 16, 2009 at Talisayan, Zamboanga City.

According to MYM Acting Chairman Pang Jukupan, the group would like to extend some food to 100 indigent Muslims, Christians and Lumads in the said community.

This student group is encouraging all sectors in the country particularly in the city to participate the activity through some donations like noodles, rice and canned goods.

In the WMSU campus, MYM members and students were donating some amount of money from their allowances for only to support the activity to make it possible.

Alvin 'Bob" Halpi said, students are willing to forgo their snacks budget for the cause. Abbas of the MYM member explained that he gave his two days allowances for Food of Peace and he felt contented. "Helping needy people is a sort of success", he said.

"Forget all bombs and poverty, lets us celebrate together the Food for Peace!" the College of Asian and Islamic Studies, WMSU student governor Calbi Idjilani expressed.
